Justin worked as a Solicitor (in England) for over six years. That work concentrated on property litigation, employment law and civil litigation.
Justin was admitted to the Maine Bar in 2002 and to the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine in 2003.
Justin has a substantial real estate and corporate practice area. He represents buyers, sellers, and lenders on projects ranging from many millions of dollars to gifts of real estate within families. He has been involved in numerous projects involving land trusts. He has advised many clients on division of real estate which are owned by multiple family members. He has created many corporate entities for clients, including: LLCs, S-Corporations, and not-for-profit corporations.
Since 2002, Justin has represented clients in a wide range of court proceedings (including Maine District Courts, Maine Superior Courts, the Maine Supreme Court and Federal District Court); as well as in proceedings with various Tribunals (including the Maine Human Rights Commission and the Maine Board of Environmental Protection) and at various municipal meetings. He has represented clients at numerous mediation hearings, including: compulsory mediations (via the litigation process); voluntary mediations; and, mediations pursuant to the Maine Residential Real Estate Mediation Program. Justin has represented clients in five appeal cases at the Maine Supreme Court. One case was settled during the appeal process; his clients successfully opposed the appeals in the other four cases. In 2005, Justin received an award from the Maine State Bar Association for providing the highest cumulative number of pro bono hours on cases closed during 2004 in Hancock County.
Justin lives in Blue Hill and is married to Sally Mills. They have two children. Justin has served on the boards of various local not-for-profit organizations. He has volunteered his time as a soccer coach for various local youth soccer teams. Also, he enjoys golfing, hiking, cycling, skiing, and running. He has completed various triathlons; as well as 5K, 10K and half marathon road races.
